NEWS: Press Democrat Article

In September 2011, Press Democrat reporter Kevin McCallum interviewed me about PARKing Day in Santa Rosa. PARKing Day, began in San Francisco in 2005 and now bills itself as a worldwide event where citizens, artists and activists collaborate to transform metered parking spaces into temporary public places.

I was proud to spearhead the effort to bring PARKing Day to the north bay. To read the article, From Parking to Patio in Downtown Santa Rosa, click here.

RADIO: An interview on KPFA

In July 2011, I presented as part of a panel discussion on KPFA's program Terra Verde.

See the description for the episode:

The Bay Area's regional transportation agency estimates that by 2035 about two million more people will be living, working, and commuting in our nine counties, over the current population of about seven million. With this kind of growth projected, measures must be in place to shape the future in economical, equitable, and eco-efficient ways. Listen in as we discuss transit-oriented development as a means to ensure that Bay Area communities can become more prosperous as they grow more populous with Gilda Gonzales, CEO of the Unity Council in the Fruitvale District of Oakland, Karen Chapple, Professor of City & Regional Planning at UC Berkeley, and Amanda Bornstein of the Greenbelt Alliance in the North Bay.
